It contributes an additional 100% on top of the 5400% on live making it 5500%, a 1.85% damage increase. It's not a good way to buff your 6-piece single target damage. It can theoretically beat out other options in very AoE heavy situations due to the power of Area damage. The Invoker 2pc makes your reflected thorns AoE and also proc area damage, and Hack damage works the same way.

For skills that do thorns damage (Bombardment-Barrel of Spikes, Consecration-Bed of Nails, Steed Charge-Spiked Barding), it applies the 100% thorns only once. Hack deals 100% of your thorns in an AoE (area of affect), just like the 2-piece Invoker set bonus, making it useful in a way that other weapons are not.
